Paintball War

As spring has sprung I am feeling a bit nostalgic for the fall/winter woods paintball adventure my friends and I enjoy.  During the fall months and into winter my friends and I gather in the woods near my home.  We divide up teams. Usually we have about 6 per a team but, on occasion we have had as many as 12-15 people on a team.  The teams are divided by using 2 different colored paintballs. We put them in a box and each person wishing to play picks a paintball. I should tell you why we play during the fall and winter.....very few if any ticks or snakes, plus it's cooler so we can play longer with our getting overheated.

Once the teams are chosen, we then put colored tape on each teams members arm (we have red and yellow tape) to distinguish between teams.  With all that done and everyone loaded up with air and paintballs, our teams take their place on opposite sides of the woods.  Someone one from each team yells ready and the playing is on.

The idea as we play the game is to be the last to have a team member remaining unhit by paintballs.  We have set up the woods with items to hide behind such as car hoods, wooden structures, and we even have one we call the fortress, of course you can always hide behind the trees. What is so fun about these wars is the crazy things we do to not get shot by a paintball, jumping ditches, doing tuck rolls like were in gymnastics, its action packed but at the same time it also is a great stress reliever.  Our age group of friends range from 8 to 60 years young. Everyone enjoys the time we play, as we don't take our play to serious.  But that is not say that we aren't competitive, don't get me wrong  we all still want to be the one with no paintball hits.  When I think about it, maybe just maybe it's not really the competitive streak in us but more the fact that the paintballs do sting a bit but not enough to make us quit playing. Nah come to think of it, it is the very idea that you are the last one...and you played the game so well you didn't get painted, competition at it best.

How long is it till fall?
