Lovitt Restaurant, Colville, WA A Great Find!!

Just flew into Spokane. My husband (floracycle) picked me up on the bike and we are headed north on 385 to Colville. Great road, so, so scenery. We booked a room at the Comfort Inn in Colville. Glad we did, there isn't much to choose from other than that. The Colville Inn didn't look to bad. On the way into Colville, I noticed a sign that said Lovitt Restaurant along what looked like a driveway.
An older nicely kept home sat up on the side of a hill.
Looked interesting. THe desk clerk at the hotel recommended it as a good place to eat, and called ahead for us to make sure they were not hosting a party etc. It is actually a bed and breakfast. It is ran by a husband and wife team, Norman and Kristen Six. All the food is regionally grown and some of it organic and much of it raised by them personally. The menu changes accordingly based on what is in season and available. We were able to eat out on the deck, which was very nice and a spectacular view. The pictures don't do it justice. My husband and I have had wonderful meals in many places all over the world and I would have to rank our meal at Lovitt Restaurant as one of the best. Norman is the chef and he is spectacular. We started with a plate of artisan cheeses, smoked prosciutto( done onsite) and poached crabapples, grown locally. The cheeses were all made locally.
Delicious, with a glass of Washington state pinot noir. I had the wild alaskan salmon with wild rice and grilled peaches( canned by the owners). My husband indulged in the pork stuffed raviolli with fried chard. Both entrees were presented very simply on plain white plates. What impressed me most about the food was the fresh, simple flavors. Nothing was overdone with ancilary spices, oils, etc. that take away from the true flavor of the food.
We indulged in a dessert of homemade vanilla ice cream, topped with huckleberry glaze and homemade granola. I am not a big ice cream fan, but you could taste the rich cream. Absolutely wonderful! We were sad that we wouldn't get to eat here again, as we are moving on toward Winthrop tomorrow. If I lived in Spokane, I would definitely make trip often to eat at Lovitt Restaurant. I think they are a well kept secret that needs to be shared. Lovitt Restaurant was the highlight of our stop in Colville. YOu gotta "lovitt". We are moving on tomorrow morning, supposed to be raining. Thank goodness I've got rain gear. I'll be on the look out for another great local place to eat.
