Humboldt Strawberry Fields, Forever
Or how I learn to accept life and happiness where I may find it?

Eleven days ago, I suffered a major heart attack that took me to the precipice of life, and left me there for a moment or two. They say I was gone, but too honery to leave, I made it back. Since that moment, I've been embellished with the desire to live my life as I never had before.
I take a lot of photos, it's a hobby and way of expressing myself, somewhat akin to 'art'. But not quite. Over the years I've taken many thousands of pictures of different events/people/places. A few years back I met a young girl from Memphis named Dani. She sang at a local watering hole because the event she was scheduled to sing at (Little Riverfest) was washed out by an early spring deluge. Skip forward a few years to 2007, she made an appearance at Lil Riverfest under dry conditions. I was impressed with her voice and maturity. Last week I received an email from her, telling me that she was performing in Humboldt, Tn on Monday night. Since I'm off work right now (because of the heart attack, waiting on another stint being placed in that strange dark orb that goes by the name heart) I knew I could, but also should make the trek to the east and see what the little Tennessee town of Humboldt had to offer a stranger. Well, I was so pleasantly surprised. Everyone I came into contact with prior to the concert was more than just friendly,I almost had the feeling I was among family. I haven't seen this type of action from strangers in a long, long time. The event was fantastic, made me think and long for days long since passed. When people WERE people. And everyone was treated with a respect that seems to have been lost in the shuffle we call life. Dani and her bands performance was even better than last year, but the town was the star this night. The weather was perfect as well...that middle of spring air that makes you so glad you live. Just a shame that Dani didn't sing Strawberry Fields, she does a lot of Beatles tunes...lol. I left Humboldt feeling strangely linked to the town and its' festival, I will be back and encourge others to visit this little western Tennessee town as well.To see the pictures, go to www.flickr.com/chuckyone and look to the sets to the right....Strawberry Fields, Forever.
