The Miracle in LaPaz

The next day we show up at Motorsports in La Paz, I meet the mechanic who speaks pretty good English and we agree that I can speed things up if I start stripping the bike back down.
Apparently the La Paz Police department has just purchased about a dozen Suzuki V-Stroms that need to be decked out with lights sirens etc. I'm stripping the bike down when 6 of them show up all armed to the teeth. I'm talking fully automatic weapons. Dad's got a great picture of me working on the KLR while surrounded by heavily armed police. Unfortunately his camera requires proprietary software which we don't have here. I'll update the pictures when we get home.
So I tell the mechanic we the bike is stripped and ready and he says he will be right there. While waiting Dad and I decide to put another fuse in and low and behold a miracle. It started and ran fine. Maybe the shorted wire moved just right during transport or assembly, I don't know but she worked. Of course now I'm more than a little embarrassed. We decide to put it all together and spend the rest of the day riding around La Paz to see if we could have another malfunction but so far so good. The photo gallery has some pictures of the La Paz area.
