2009 Alaska trip
Will my son-in-law speak to me by the time we get back???

July 7, 2009 will be a mighty big day for me. It is the day I will start a trip that I have wanted to do since I was stationed in Fairbanks, Alaska and even before. I will trailer my 2007 Kawasaki KLR650 to Indianapolis, Indiana where I will start up the long road to Alaska with my son-in-law, Kevin Kiley. He will also be riding a KLR650, but his is a 2008 model. Not to leave our families out, they will give us a 2 week head start, then fly to Anchorage and meet us. We will park the bikes somewhere and then all 6 of us (2 grandchildren) rent a motorhome for a 12 day tour of the 49th state. When the motorhome part is over, Kevin and I will ride back to Indy via routes that we had not travelled while on our way north. Since I will be 65 yrs old when we start I am just hoping to complete the journey with some semblance of accomplishment if not satisfaction. Stay tuned for further reports on the bikes, preparations and other tidbits of information I hope to post.
