West Coast Tour
Northwest Washington

Our objective for the west coast tour was simple; pick up our freshly serviced bikes in Seattle, head for the most northern point of Washington, then follow the coast down to San Diego in 8 days. Plenty of time to see the sights and take some detours. Unfortunately fate had something else in store for us. We got a late start out of town due to illness. My Wife had just defeated a stomach virus before we left home but it came back for a second round in Seattle. With temperatures in the 40's and precipitation in the forecast we decided to just stick with Hwy 101 around Olympic National Park while Dad headed for the original goal of Neah Bay, Washington. By the time we made it to Aberdeen my Wife was very ill so we checked into the best motel we could find. By the next morning she was better but I had it now. We stayed an extra day in the "beautiful" town of Aberdeen to recouperate. This was not our idea of adventure. We made the best of if but it really set the tone for the rest of the trip since we lost some valuable time and were slowed due to our weakened state. Thank goodness we had each other and plenty of Gatorade and Jello.
