Mountain Biking Sedona

On vacation my husband lives for the thrill of adventure: hiking, biking, fishing, skiing, you name it.  For me vacation is for one thing - meeting people.  With every vacation endeavor, I have the need to meet new and interesting people.  Sedona was a mecca for this type of vacation.  I didn't meet one unhappy or grumpy person the whole time.  In fact, I met several wonderful people.

It started with our search for Absolute Bikes .  My husband was suppose to meet a group of cyclists the next day for a ride and he wanted to scope out the place first and get a little more information about the ride.  We passed the bike shop and needed a place to turn around.  We found a parking lot that seemed to be out in the middle of no where, so we pulled in only to realize that this was a parking lot for mountain bikers.  My husband rides a road bike but in Sedona mountain biking is a little more popular for both the natives and the tourists.  We got out to stretch out legs and to see what kind of trail it was.  That's when I saw him.  A mountain biker was crusing down the trail towards us.  I ran to get my camera.  By the time I got back he was pulling on to the parking lot.  Me, being the shameless person I am stopped the gentleman and asked him if he wouldn't mind going back up the trail and riding back down.  Now here's the kicker -- in other places he would have thought I was crazy and ran from me as quickly as he could.  But not in Sedona, people are so friendly and accommodating in Sedona.  He heartily said "Sure" and took his bike to the top of the trail and rode down as I clicked away.  Gallery Photo: At the End Of The Trail

Dr Harvey Thomas Mountain Biking in Sedona

I found out that the mountain bikers name is Dr. Harvey Thomas, a neurosurgeon from Mesa.  Dr. Thomas was great, he told us all sorts of things about mountain biking in Sedona and how the parking area was new. We had a delightful time talking to Dr. Thomas, he was so friendly.  Dr. Thomas has a real zest for life and great enthusiasm for mountain biking.  After talking to him, my husband was ready to buy a mountain bike and embark on a new riding experience.  Thanks Dr. Thomas!  No really thanks for letting me take your picture and for all fantastic conversation.

Our time in Sedona won't be long enough for my husband to mountain bike.  I'm sure we'll come back to Sedona again and mountain biking will be on the top of our things to do in Sedona list.
