Father and Son Alaska Tour

Ahhh... Valdez

All the roads we travelled in southern Alaska are great and Valdez proved to be no different.  We generally try to avoid driving in the evenings or at night due to wildlife concerns.  Due to a late start we broke this policy.  Fortunately we had no encounters of the hairy kind.  It did provide for a different driving experience.  Between the dim lighting and light fog it was very surreal descending into Valdez.  Most of the pictures are from our departure.

One of my favorites.  Dad and me on a loading dock in Valdez. We cruised around town and grabbed an early lunch here.

We both ate salads mine with fresh Copper River Salmon and Dad's with halibut. On the drive out we got to see what we missed the night before. Worthington Glacier

Well out of Valdez we pulled off the road beckoned by the sign "Handmade Alaskan Knives."  There we met Chuck Bowen the self proclaimed Alaska Knifeman.

Chuck is quite the salesman and character.
